Moore Law host and TV journalist Deb Haas and attorney co-host Don Moore welcomed Cincinnati Bar Association Executive Director John C. Norwine to talk about “Careers in the Law.” During one segment, Deb asked the gentlemen why lawyers get such a bad reputation. “I think that sometimes you have to take up the unpopular cause,” John said. “There are a lot of attorneys who have supported the Ku Klux Klan in putting up a cross or doing certain things that hate doing that, but want to believe the Constitution allows them to do that. So when you’re the point person on something like that, you are not going to be very popular with the public.”
“There is an aspect of practice of law that is actually noble,” Don replied. “Sometimes we have to do things that we don’t particularly care for because we are supporting the Constitution that we pledged to support. And it is not a matter of being dishonest or sneaky, it is a matter of doing what we are professionally obligated to do.”
Moore Law viewer questions included Barbara in Cincinnati asking if environmental law could be a promising field for her son who has an interest in geology and law, and Scott in Cincinnati talking about his interest in becoming a personal injury lawyer and wanting to know if one particular college was better than another. Don’s son, Cincinnati
personal injury attorney Dan Moore, also answered questions submitted by viewers through the “Moore Law Connection,” including an explanation of “bailment” for Mitch who described a dent in his car after it was loaned to a friend, and a question from Yancey about getting a second opinion from a doctor in regards to workers’ compensation.
