Suspected Road Rage Causes Deadly Accident In Dayton

An incident of road rage resulted in a fatal accident on West Third Street near North Plaza Ave. on May 25, 2011. A woman was killed, and the driver had to be cut out of the car by rescuers.

Police received a call from the vehicle being chased at approximately 3 a.m. Wednesday morning. Officers were unable to catch up to the scene in progress, and found the wreck instead. The caller stated that occupants in the suspect vehicle were throwing objects at their car. Then there was screaming and silence followed. The driver then said that he hit a pole and needed an ambulance.

A Cincinnati serious accident attorney stated that people often let their emotions get the better of them and make poor judgments that result in serious injury and death.

There is some confusion if the woman was in the car or not. Police feel that she was in the vehicle based on her injuries observed at the scene, while the male driver is insisting that he did not have a passenger at the time of the crash. The woman is identified as Shelly Bailey.

Sgt Michael Pauley of the Dayton Police Department said “that this is one of the worst accidents he has ever seen. There were crews on the way. It’s just unfortunate that this happened before we could get to them.”
