'Moore Law' Viewers Get Answers to Medical Malpractice Questions

Covington, Kentucky-based medical malpractice lawyer Jennifer L. Lawrence from the Lawrence Law Firm, PSC joined Moore Law host and local TV journalist Deb Haas and attorney co-host Don Moore to talk about “Health Care Negligence.” Jennifer noted that the Lawrence Law Firm was a family business much like The Moore Law Firm, but Don noted the personal connection between the two as well. “When [Jennifer’s] dad was in college, he worked for my dad and his law firm,” Don said. “When I was in law school, I worked for her dad and his law firm. And then later when my son was in law school, he also worked for her dad.”

Jennifer explained some of the common occurrences that she sees when it comes to health care negligence. “It’s been my experience throughout the years that medical malpractice a lot of times will occur on a holiday, or on a weekend or late at night,” Jennifer said. “And a lot of errors occur in July because that is when new residents start their residency and they’re still in the learning phase.”

The show had a number of questions from Moore Law viewers, such as Scott in Cincinnati calling about options for an infection following a hospital visit, Cynthia in Cincinnati wondering about a second opinion for a costly follow-up procedure, Sean in Amelia saying a hernia surgery had led to five follow-up surgeries, Jacqueline in Grant County talking about complications both she and her grandson had following broken bones and Kim in Indiana inquiring about the statute of limitations for misdiagnoses.

The entire “Health Care Negligence” episode is viewable in the video above. On the next Moore Law, Deb and Don will welcome Fort Wright, Kentucky-based personal injury lawyer Penny Hendy to take viewer questions regarding “All About Injuries.” The next show airs live on Monday, July 2, 2012, at 9:30 a.m. on WXIX-TV, FOX19.
