A bus carrying 19 people, including 16 fourth-grade students, two teachers and a driver, rolled over on Interstate 65 after being struck by a tractor-trailer, the Courier-Journal reported on November 4, 2011. The 16 students and three adults were initially taken to T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow following the accident. Elizabeth Post, communications director for Louisville Collegiate School, told the Courier-Journal that two people remained hospitalized after the accident, including one student at Kosair Children’s Hospital and one adult at University Hospital. The bus driver, 39-year-old Lawrence Austin Sr., told police that a white tractor-trailer struck the bus, but Trooper Jonathan Biven, spokesman for the Kentucky State Police Post in Bowling Green, told the Courier-Journal that investigators found no residual paint or metal on the bus that would indicate a collision. Biven noted that the road was wet from rain and had pooled water.
